Livingston HealthCare Successfully Passes Two State Surveys
(Livingston, MT) Livingston HealthCare (LHC) is proud to announce that it has successfully passed a surprise state license inspection in September 2023. Within the month of passing the state inspection, the Life Safety Survey also took place, and once again LHC successfully passed.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) works in partnership with the entire health care community to improve quality, equity and outcomes in the health care system. Hospitals are required to be in compliance with the Federal requirements set forth in the Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoP).
“Certification of hospital compliance with the CoP is accomplished through observations, interviews and document reviews,” says Bruce Whitfield, CEO of Livingston HealthCare. “The survey process focuses on a hospital’s performance of patient-focused and organizational functions and processes. I’m proud of the work and excellent care that our dedicated team provides to Park County.”
On behalf of the federal government, state auditors can show up unannounced at Livingston HealthCare. “We never know when to expect a survey,” says Whitfield. “Therefore, we must always operate at a very high level in anticipation of such a visit.”
While the state surveyors focus on rules and regulations, the Life Safety Survey focuses on patient, visitor and employee safety. They check all fire equipment, exits, electrical, safety and security, among others.
“During the exit interview, the state surveyors reported while they conducted interviews with our patients, hearing on multiple occasions the word ‘fabulous’ when describing the level of care they were receiving,” added Whitfield.
The successful completion of these inspections reflects LHC’s dedication to providing excellent patient-centered care to our community while maintaining compliance with the state and federal regulations.
