Robotic-assisted Surgery
Livingston HealthCare now offers minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgeries
with the da Vinci Robot platform. This platform combines the latest assisted-surgical
technologies into one system—allowing your surgeon to gain easier
access to targeted areas, with greater visual clarity, for a more precise surgery.
As a patient recovering from robotic-assisted surgery, you will experience
less post-operative pain, faster recovery time and fewer complications—allowing
you to quickly get back to doing what you love. Plus, Livingston HealthCare
is one of only four critical access hospitals in Montana offering robotic-assisted
surgery, you can begin the process of healing close to home.
Benefits of Robotic-assisted Surgery
- Smaller incisions
- Faster recovery
- Fewer complications
- Less need for medications
- Increased surgical precision
- Less post-operative pain
How Robotic-assisted Surgery Works
During robotic-assisted surgery, the surgeon controls the da Vinci surgical
system through a special console in the room. The robot does not act on
its own—its movements are entirely controlled by the surgeon. The
platform’s vision capabilities give your surgeon a highly magnified,
crystal-clear, 3D view of fine details of targeted areas during surgery.
The platform's movement capapibilities enable your surgeon to use
smaller incisions and access more difficult to reach areas.
Robotic-assisted surgery technology was initially adopted for prostatectomies
and gynecology. Today, the da Vinci Robot has become more commonly utilized
in a number of general surgery and other procedures.
Common Robotic-assisted Surgery Procedures
- Hernia repair
- Thoracic surgery
- Gynecological procedures
- Pelvic floor procedures
- Urological surgery
- Abdominal procedures
