Occupational Therapy

At Livingston HealthCare, we offer rehabilitation services to help you
restore or improve your quality of life, whether you are recovering from
an injury or illness or coping with a chronic condition. Our experienced
team of physical, occupational, and speech therapists will create personal
goals and a customized treatment program for you. Whether you are still
in the hospital or already an outpatient, we offer care designed to get
you back to what you love doing.
The goal of occupational therapy is to enable an individual to carry out
their activities of daily living - which include those performed at work,
home, school and the community - as independently as possible. Following
a thorough evaluation, our occupational therapist will tailor a treatment
plan dedicated to restoring your maximum functional ability. Your occupational
therapist will work individually with you and will closely monitor your
progress and modify your program as required.
The need for occupational therapy may arise from a traumatic or repetitive
injury, an orthopedic disorder, or a chronic or congenital illness. Individuals
with a new injury, or those with a progression of a recurring problem
that causes limitations in function, can all benefit from outpatient occupational
therapy. Our occupational therapists treat people with a wide range of
conditions, including:
- Hand/upper extremity therapy
- Cumulative trauma
- Post-surgical rehab of the upper extremities
- Shoulder pain
- Sports or work-related injuries
- Arthritis
- Osteoporosis
- Activities of daily living/upper extremity rehabilitation
- Splinting
- Adaptive equipment recommendation and training
- Therapeutic modalities
