Hospice care allows patients to live their final days in a loving, supportive environment—at home with friends and family. Typically, a family member serves as the primary caregiver with support from Livingston HealthCare hospice staff who make regular visits. However, sometimes this is not enough, and the family needs some additional support. This is where hospice volunteers come in. As a Livingston HealthCare hospice volunteer, you are giving your time to help a family in need so the patient can live out his or her final days with dignity. Volunteers may provide respite care, run errands, provide a break for family caregivers, read to patients, ect. This program has been in place for over 20 years and some of the volunteers we have today have been here since the beginning. Volunteers are asked to make a minimum six month commitment and must complete a 16-hour training and attend ongoing education. If you are interested in becoming a Livingston HealthCare hospice volunteer, please call Jody Dowell at 406-823-6430 or email jody.dowell@livingstonhealthcare.org. |
